Royals and Redcoats

Yesterday Mum and I drove Tom down to Heathrow and then went to Windsor. We got coffee and walked down the high street and wandered around the shops. I would live in Windsor again in a heartbeat.

We went into a bookshop and while we were there Mum leaned over to me and pointed towards a middle-aged man in a navy blue jacket and beige slacks. Turns out it was Prince Andrew. He was between Twilight and the Richard and Judy section, which I thought was amusing. About ten minutes later, after we'd left the shop and walked around a little more we saw him again a few feet in front of us, walking back towards the castle. He had a small bag from the bookshop; I kinda wanted to ask him what he decided to read. I didn't.

After everything started closing at 6 we went to a coffee shop in the railway station. A little before the coffee shop I found a coat in a shop that I absolutely loved! It was bright red with a double row of buttons and a flip up collar. I look like Paddington Bear. After the coffee shop we headed back up to Tamworth. It was a lovely day with my mum.

Here's Windsor Castle and a slight glimpse of the high street.

Mum and me and a statue of Queen Victoria. This photo doesn't quite show the glory that is my red coat. And the flag is raised: Queenie's there.

This will seem a little random to Americans, but this is a post box from the reign of King George (not that one). The post boxes are different colours for each monarch; Victoria's were blue and Elizabeth's are red.

Here's the railway station. It was built in the Victorian era (October 8th 1849) and the roof and bricks are preserved in the original architectural design.

And here's my mum in a phone booth in Windsor...

And me in a phone booth in Laguna Beach from a few months ago.

Lovely day. Lovely week.
