Running Away With the Circus

I've talked with my wardrobe manager and it's set: I'm traveling with Cirque to San Diego and Portland! This means that I will be working on this show almost every day through 23 May; five months!

I've never been to Portland but my grandmother and my great-grandmother were supposed to move there when my Nan was a little girl. It's a really sad story but the man my Great Nan fell in love with back in the '30s was an American from Portland and he went on ahead from England to America by ship to find a place to live for them. Basically his ship went down and they think he drowned, so my Nan and Great Nan never made it to America. So going to Portland is sort of this big symbolic thing, which sounds crazy but I think about my Nan, who just turned 86 on 25 Jan.

So this means that I've got to stick my stuff in storage somewhere and find a sublet for each city and basically not see anyone I know for the next few months. It also means that I get to leave Orange County and do something adventurous for a while! There's a week or so off in between each show but other than that it's work work work. It's not my ideal job but I can't resist the opportunity to do it! I have an appoinment with the DMV in Feb and I'm gonna get my permit (again) and I'm hoping I can jam in enough practise to get my license, so I could at least rent a car if I need to. I don't know if there's going to be enough time but it'd definitely make life easier!

C'est un monde fou!

Russian word of the day: Circus - Цирк (tsirk)
