Tonight is my second night in San Diego. Ty drove me down yesterday afternoon from Orange County so I had the rest of the day to adjust to being here and enjoy my last Sunday of not working for a while. I made tea, watched episodes of the office and fell asleep as early as I could!
We had our first set up day today so Ryan (the other dresser) picked me up and we got bagels and coffee on the way to work. I hand washed hats for 8 hours, but I had India Arie on my IPod to keep me company so the time went by considerably quickly. We finished at 6 so we decided to get dinner at a place that Ryan suggested. What followed next was a series of twists and turns comparable to the opening paragraph of Homer's Odyssey. Why does San Diego have so many freeways? We finally ended up by the water tower (the only landmark we could remember being part of the directions) and went to (I jest not) "San Diego's Chicken Pie Restaurant." It was everything you could imagine it to be. I have never seen so many ceramic chickens in my life. I ordered meatloaf. On the way home we passed by a bar that had as its only advertisement a neon "Pabst Blue Ribbon" sign in the window. I want to go to there. Any bar that considers PBR a competitive marketing strategy has my business. I came back to the place I'm subletting at (a semi-detached in Del Mar), happy to find that my laptop was still there and my key still worked in the door (you never know).
All in all, a pretty successful first day.
I miss being at Ty's and our fabulous cocktail and movie nights. So to cheer myself up and continue to settle in to my new room, I'm posting photos of the last few weeks and some new San Diego photos.
Jenn and Ty at Lindsay's in January!
Remember all that rain?
I pierced my ears again (one..two..three..AH AH AH...). Since doing this, I have never had so many people find a reason to hit me in the head or touch my ears. Bastards.
I really do work for Cirque du Soleil.
Friday night hang out! We started with ice skating!
Then we went back to Ty's for drinks and crazy fabulous food!
I cannot open a fucking wine bottle...
to save my fucking life...
Success!!!
Ty and me!!! I love this photo :)
And all the girls!!!
And lastly, here's Del Mar..
Looking scarily similar to Laguna Beach...
And the Grand Chapiteau in its new home.
