Post-Yacht Club Update: Part II

So, in between the moving and the working and the buses and all that jazz, I've been wracking my little brain out trying to come up with a game plan. Since every plan I've made so far about leaving Orange County has fallen through I've had to reformulate quite a bit.

When I went up to LA the day after I moved I saw a sublet in NoHo. I've gone up a few times to see different sublets and try to find a way to move to LA. Once again, the thing fell through. And after things keep falling through you start to notice and wonder if what you're doing is the right thing to do. So I'm keeping my options open.

I decided a while ago that my best bet is to find an internship with a professional theatre company - paid, unpaid, long-term, temporary, something - preferably as a literary assistant but again, keeping my options open to more general internship possibilities and seeing what comes up. I'm going to have to have a day job anyway, so whether the internship has a stipend or not won't really make a difference. Then while I do that I can continue to audition and take whatever acting or dance or MT classes I choose. So I did the research, did the paperwork, got the letters of rec, wrote the cover letter, etceterlaaa, etceterlaaa. And here's what's come up:

There are two possible internships in New York, both Off-Broadway, one for a theatre that produces work by female playwrights and the other for a theatre collaboration with substantial literary development (recommended by Cliff). One is ongoing, the other starts immediately and goes through December.

There are several possible internships in Seattle. I've been in contact with about 14 different theatres and a fellow called Seth, who collaborates with one of the theatres, has put me in contact with the specific people I would need to talk to about interning. There's a lot of theatre in that city.

Then there's LA/OC. SCR has a program beginning in January that the literary manager recommended I apply for in December. I've been emailing back and forth with several theatres in LA and there's a good chance of working with one of them, if not immediately then beginning in January, and the benefit being that I'm close enough to be able to visit the theatres directly.

So what to do.

New York. Incredibly expensive, theatre capital, immediate move, guaranteed internship.
Seattle. Incredibly cheap, close to California, a ton of theatre, have a friend to stay with while I find a place, major culture shock.
Oooooor LA. Expensive, a lot of theatre, a lot of crazy superficial people, accessible, entertainment capital, all my friends are there, and let's face it, the weather.

I need some divine intervention here. Or at least some friend advice.
