Onto what any self-respecting European would consider worthy of discussion today: the World Cup Final!
With all due respect, the Final was a perfect example of what happens when you put a team who tackles dirty against a team who dives theatrically. Both the Netherlands and Spain are fantastic teams and unfortunately the match emulated the problems that have permeated this entire World Cup. Fortunately the reffing didn't seem to cause too much of a controversy, but the general quality of the tournament has been well below general standards. And FIFA needs to take a good long look at their stance on replay technology and microchipping if they want to avoid the kinds of disastrous calls that have been made from the beginning of the group stage. Nevertheless, I was hoping for a Spanish victory and as it panned out, that's what happened. And I know a lot of high wire guys who are very happy today! Vamos, EspaƱa!!!
And England.....we'll get em next time.
