Thank you, Portland, and Good Night!

Closing Kooza in 19 hours. It has been a crazy, unexpected and spectacular last six months. I had no idea when Lindsay, Michael, Ty and I popped that bottle of Andre on New Years that this is what I would be doing for half of 2010. Working in a circus (in what I swore would be my last dresser job) in Irvine, and then out of nowhere moving to San Diego during February and March and finally up to Portland and the Pacific Northwest for two crazy months. There have been plane tickets, crazy subletters with stupid cats and ecstasy habits, broken suitcases, train stations, 3-mile hikes for a midnight brownie, jazz clubs, burlesque bars, premiere parties, 4am renditions of Annie and Suddenly Seymour, costume repairs, rat capes, acrobat quick changes, skeleton feathers, scruffy dogs, tightrope walkers, Heimlos jackets, a plethora of languages, late work nights, new friends, old friends, and a lot. of. laundry. It's brought yet another meaning to independence and making choices. It's made me appreciate the balance between spontaneity and instability, and consistency and predictability. It's made me trust myself and trust God when I've had no one else to rely on and been what's felt like a thousand miles away from the closest friend.

So here's to another chapter about to close and all the experiences, people and moments with which I have been so incredibly blessed. And most of all, here's to forever being able to use the immortal words, "Remember that time I ran away with the circus?"

Dobry Vecher :)
