Crazy Friday

I leave for England in just over 24 hours, and in a way I can't wait until I'm on the plane and can leave everything behind for a little while and just enjoy seeing my family. God likes to leave me hanging until the very last minute, but I tell you what, he always comes through one way or another.

So Michael Jackson. Man. Absolutely crazy. There's all this debate going on about whether or not his death deserves the kind of attention it's getting based on what he may or may not have done in his life. I just think at the end of the day that all the scandal aside, he was an incredible artist and performer whose career changed the music industry forever, and that's what we should be stopping to recognise and appreciate. I was randomly listening to Jackson 5 the day before he died (I Want You Back - c'mon, it's great); weird. He had such a sad, lonely life; it's hard to watch the early recordings of the Jackson 5 and think of what was happening behind the scenes. It really is such a tragic death. He's been such a fundamental part of this generation.

I can't wait to see the boys. Steve flew over to Sonoma a couple of days ago so he won't be there, but everyone else will. Six weeks in England and then back to sorting life out for the umpteenth time. I'm hopefully going to be able to spend some time down in London and probably see a match. Up the 'Ammers. Yeah. I said it.
